The ultimate in car customization is to build your own custom car. This takes time, money and dedication, but can be extremely rewarding, with the end result being the car of your dreams, and the knowledge that you made it yourself. Building your own car also means you are able to customize everything to your own specifications. There are various components to any car you build, and you can always buy and collect the parts as you go, allowing you to save for the highest quality you can afford. Usually a car builder starts with the chassis, then the body and finally finding the right interior, wheels and most importantly engine!
One way to going about building your own custom car is to buy a kit. This is a popular option for smaller sports options. Kits will usually contain:
Chassis: this is the 'skeleton' of your car
Fibreglass mouldings: How much of the car is fibreglass and how much is steel will depend on the type of vehicle
Steel panels: often these need to be shaped as you fit them
Fasteners, angle iron, other metal parts
Custom parts such as radiators, steering column, windscreen
Wheels
Instructions: these now usually come as videos, giving you the option to watch as well as read how to assemble your car.
Some kits will only cover the body of the car; some may even include the engine and interior fittings. Make sure you are clear what you are getting when you buy your kit.
Whether you build completely from scratch or choose to use a kit, remember that safety should be your number one consideration. Brakes in perfect condition are a must, and seatbelts should be included in all vehicles.
